Hi @Gosha200
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It looks like your RC6 1762308/01B remote control isn't working with your HP Pavilion dv6-1229er running Windows 7 (32-bit). Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help:
Step 1: Check Infrared (IR) Functionality
- Ensure the remote has a clear line of sight to the laptop’s IR receiver.
- Try using the remote closer to the laptop to rule out weak signal issues.
Step 2: Test the Remote’s IR Signal
- Use a smartphone camera to check if the remote’s IR light is working:
- Open the camera app on your phone.
- Point the remote at the camera and press a button.
- If you see a faint blinking light, the remote is working.
Step 3: Check Device Manager for IR Receiver
- Open Device Manager (Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and hit Enter).
- Look under Human Interface Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controllers for an IR receiver.
- If missing, try reinstalling the IR driver from HP’s support site.
Step 4: Install HP Quick Launch Software
- Some HP remotes require HP Quick Launch Buttons software to function.
- Download and install the latest version from HP’s support site.
Step 5: Try HP Connected Remote
- If your laptop supports HP Connected Remote, enable it:
- Search for HP Connected Remote in Windows.
- Open Settings and ensure it’s turned on.
Try these steps and let me know if the issue persists! We’ll get this sorted.

Hi @Gosha200,
Since @Haks_Eye is not available at the moment, I'll be assisting you further.
That’s a great question, and I totally get your frustration!
The reason the RC6 1762308/01B remote worked on Windows Vista 32-bit but not on Windows 7 32-bit is likely due to driver and software compatibility. Some of the drivers or software packages (like HP Quick Launch Buttons) that supported the remote in Vista may not be fully compatible or preinstalled in Windows 7 without manual setup.
Here’s what I suggest:
Install HP Quick Launch Buttons for Windows 7:
Go to the official HP Support site.
Search for your model: dv6-1229er.
Under the Windows 7 32-bit drivers, download and install HP Quick Launch Buttons or HP MediaSmart/Consumer IR Drivers if available.
This software enables special function keys and IR remote features that were built into Vista but require separate installation on newer OS versions.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
