Hi.

My laptop has a 256G SSD  and a 1T HDD now.

Is it possible to replace 1T HDD to 1T SSD?

Thanks for your kind help.

Welcome to the HP Forums,

We'll be with you until it's all sorted & beyond!

Have you checked the service and maintenance guide for your device?

Click here to explore the same, if you haven't done it yet.

Yes, you can either remove the HDD and replace it with a 1TB SSD, Go to page. 31 - Component replacement procedures for details on how to remove the HDD and use an SSD in the same caddy.

Let me know how that pans out,

Thank you for your kind answer.

Your answer makes me very hopeful because I was informed from another source to the contrary.

A local Hp angent I had consulted with earlier concerning the same question, replied that with my model Envy 17-ae111dx, the 1TB HDD does not support for its replacement with 1TB SSD. He said that a 2.5 inch SSD of 1TB could not pass the compatibility test. So could you confirm once again that I mayd replace the 1T HDD with 1T SSD under the following circumstances :

  1. Model of Laptop : Envy 17-ae111dx
  2. current dual storage configuration = 256GB SSD(OS installed)  and  1TB HDD
wishful dual storage configuration = 256GB SSD(OS installed)  and  1TB SSD

Thank you in advance for your expectant answer.

1TB하드는 SSD 1TB 로 변경을 지원하지 않고 있습니다.

1TB 2.5인치 SSD는 호환성 세트를 통과 하지 못했습니다.

Thank you for responding,

This is the Riddle_Decipher, again!

Let me put it this way, if the hard drive is slow or has failed, you can always switch to SSD, the same goes to this concern too,

You should be able to use it under the dual configuration.

Although personally, I suggest you check with a local tech, ask him to connect a spare 1TB SSD to your device and ensure it's working before purchasing it, to be on a safer side, as it isn't tested by HP, but it should ideally work.

I hope that answers your query,
