HP 550
Microsoft Windows XP

In my HP550 installed Intel Core 2 Duo T5470, I want to replace it with a more powerful, which of the list will suit me, Intel Core 2 Duo T5670, T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500 ?? My chipset GME965, on the official website of Intel, there is information that Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 is fully compatible with my GME965. Is that really the case? BIOS v F 0.5

Hi:

Yes, the Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 is fully compatible with the GME965 chipset, but that doesn't mean it will work in your PC.

The BIOS must have the microcode for the processors to work.

If you look at the BIOS revision history, no BIOS updates add support for different processors.

Below is the link to the quickspecs for your notebook.

The supported processors are listed on page 3.

So...upgrading to anything other than what is listed in the above document would be a pure risk on your part.

The processors are cheap enough nowadays, so maybe you will want to roll the dice.
