I am sorry this happened, though it is not surprising.

Old SimpleSave software is not compatible with Windows 10.

Software has been out-dated for a long time now.

There are claims from those who say, "Sure, works on W10".  Yeah?  Maybe.  Not consistently.  Most times, not at all.

While you can still do so:

You'll want to restore the data in a Windows 7 system.

Copy the restored data onto a USB stick - or maybe copy the data to a cloud backup if you can find anything that works with Windows 7...  Something.

Whatever you do next, consider very, very carefully before again using proprietary encrypted backup software.  If you can't read the data without the software used to back up the data, you could lose that data.

SimpleSave will fail at some point - even on trusty, old Windows 7.
If the disk itself fails AND the data on that disk is encrypted, it is the same result:  data lost.

Try to get the data recovered while you can.

Good luck.

That has been my experience in the past. All my searches have resulted in that same answer. I usually wait a few months and try again and that is what I was doing today and low and behold it appears to be working. Go figure just after I posted this I tried again. It is currently at 3477 of 33785 files, I am keeping my fingers crossed

Well, hopefully by now - or soon - you will know whether you can restore the data using the preferred method - just hooking it up to your new computer and restoring the files.  It is easiest and I hope it works.

As long as you know the SimpleSave recovery and support on which you are depending won't last, will fail, and - having failed - won't be something from which you can easily recover the data, you can make decisions moving forward.

Free Backup Software

Windows 10, for example, even without using or purchasing any extra software, provides File History to back up your personal data (any folder added to Libraries).  File History destination can be tied to an off-system location.  For example, File History can be directed to a NAS system (Network-Attached-Storage - a semi-intelligent file system that provides (can provide) massive amounts of backup storage space).

Free for limited storage

For less personal, but still very critical data, you can opt for Cloud storage options.  Windows supports OneDrive - the application comes with a limited amount of free storage.  Mac's iCloud has a version of their software for PC, as does Google Drive.

Good Luck.
