elite 8440p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is it possible to put a better screen in my 8440p than the one with which it left the factory or do I have change its innards as well ?

It isn't broken, just not as good/clear  as the one on my pavilion 11 touchscreen.

Which brings me to the second problem; the touchscreen in said pavilion 11.

It doesn't work correctly, the touching part that is. When active it distorts everything: the screen, the screensize and the cursor can't be controlled anymore. Ghostly spheres appear on the screen. ( no, I don't smoke funny things )

I know you can switch it off, but that works only temporarily; than it is simply there again.

Even removing it ( also an option ) doesn't work permanently.

Question: do I change the software ( updating the driver doesn't work ) or do I buy a new screen ?

I'd rather disable the touchscreen permanently, but that doesn't work. ( so please don't suggest that ! ).

Peter.

This is two pretty distinct questions and really should be seaprated into two (2) threads.

On the 8440p what resolution screen do you have? This is the better 1600 x 900 offered from the factory:

14.0-in HD+ AntiGlare LED SVA (1600x900) with w
ebcam for use with HP EliteBook 8440p      594090-001

This is an LED 30 pin connection display panel and you can install a different screen like maybe an IPS as long as it has the same mounting system and the same cable connection. I do not think you could go to a higher resolution like 1920 x 1080 as your cable would not support it and there is no other cable to get.
