When I ran the hardware diagnostics I receive the Short drive self test failure [edit] What does this mean? All other diagnostics passed.

Hi,
Please avoid posting your serial number here in the forums. Based on your computer's product number. Your computer seems obsolete? When did you purchased it?
You can go to a local computer shop and have the hard drive changed.
Option: You could try calling HP. Maybe they could transfer you to Out of warranty department.
Regards,
ichi

If you are not under warranty and want to fix it post your Model number so we can get the correct manual and replacement instructions for you and also tell us the country you live in so we can help you find a replacement drive.

I don't think I am under warranty. It is a pavilion 15 prod# J38X1AV s/n [edit]. Where can I get a drive and what is my cost? Also, does it come with instructions? I have backed up to an external drive.
