Hello, i bought an hp pavilion x360 laptop w/ 16 GB of ram and 1 TB SSD under the assumption that having 1 TB SSD would equate to having about 1 TB of storage. however, when i checked the total storage space, it is only 238 GB. How do I get the storage back?

Hi:
I suggest you google the model number of the drive HP installed (listed in the device manager under the disk drives category), because looking at the screenshot you posted, it appears to be a 256 GB SSD.
You can also enter the product number of your notebook in the search window at the link below and it should provide you with the type and storage capacity of the drive HP installed.
I have a notebook with a 256 GB SSD and the total capacity info is almost exactly the same for mine other than the free and used space.
