Silver keyboard is very hard to read. Can it be replaced with a black keyboard?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

Just one time, I had a system (might have been a Spectre) that had this type of "hard to see" keyboard.

Nice little computer - the silver keys were Not a favorite feature.

No, there is not a "black" keyboard option listed in the service manual.

There is, however, a backlit keyboard available (if you don't already have that option).

Not sure it would help in a brightly lit room -- In many settings a backlit keyboard is a nice feature.

If you are not sure changing out the keyboard is worth the work / expense ,

OR

If you are willing to side-step the whole issue,

Get an external black (backlit) keyboard to try or use.

The only problem, if there is one -- you must disassemble the entire computer to change out that keyboard.

Not a simple process, though doable.

There are all sorts of videos on YouTube showing the procedure.

A skill tech could do the job, of course.

Might be worth the effort to ask a local tech about what they would charge...
