ssd m.2 upgrade

Hello, I have recently taken an interest in adding a m.2 drive to my laptop, I see that my laptop does have  a m.2 drive, but I was wondering if I am able to boot to it with my current system. I would like to speed up my boot time,  and 5400 rpm is a bit slow for a hard drive soo, a m.2 seems like the best option without dramatically recuding my 1 tb of storage.

I would like to inform you that the SSD on your computer is to increase the performance (Cache Volume) of your computer and you will not be able to boot using the SSD.
