Hi @Soundmagie,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the touchpad on your HP Spectre X360 16 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop PC is experiencing sensitivity or lag issues. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this problem.
Update Drivers
Touchpad Driver: Ensure that your touchpad driver is up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager.
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Find Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on your touchpad device, and select Update driver.
- Follow the prompts to search for and install any available updates.
BIOS and Other Drivers: It might also help to update your BIOS and other drivers from the HP Support website.
Adjust Touchpad Settings
- Open Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Adjust the touchpad sensitivity settings. You might want to try setting it to a lower sensitivity level and see if that helps.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.
Disable Touchpad Enhancements
- Sometimes, touchpad enhancements or precision settings can cause issues.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Scroll down to Related settings and click on Additional settings.
- In the Touchpad Properties window, look for any options related to enhancements or precision settings and disable them.
Reset Touchpad
- Resetting your touchpad settings to their defaults can sometimes resolve issues.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Scroll down and click on Reset to restore default settings.
External Interference
- Sometimes other devices or USB peripherals can interfere with the touchpad. Try disconnecting any external devices and see if the issue persists.
Clean the Touchpad
- Ensure the touchpad surface is clean and free from any dirt or oil which could affect its sensitivity.
Hardware Diagnostics
- HP PCs come with built-in diagnostic tools.
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the touchpad test to see if any hardware issues are detected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
