The wireless card on my laptop is broken and i need to replace it. Should I buy same wireless card or can i use different updated version?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 802.11b/g/n (1x1) installed on the PC.  See the below configuration on wireless adapter:

Click here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763947 to know more about Wi-Fi, refer to 2 Chapter 1 Product description.
