LOST TOUCH SCREEN
HP PAVILION - 17T TOUCH LAPTOP -- M7H91AV_1 - windows 10: 22H2
Have lost and found touch screen in past; lost again. Read recent post to uninstall driver in Device Manager, so I did, but after restart, touch screen driver was not reinstalled as it was supposed to. NOW I have worse problems - When I view pen and touch info, it says: No pen or touch input is available for this display (so the computer does not have a touch screen.) SO, I am going backwards. Know I had touch screen originally, had pen and touch input, and fixed it when I lost touch in the past. (Yes, this is an older laptop but it was a backup, and barely used, so in pristine condition.) Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi @lsr2022,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop's touch screen!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try the following steps:
Check if the Touch Screen is Disabled
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices (HID).
- Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
- If you see it, right-click and enable it.
- If it’s missing, continue to the next steps.
Reinstall the Touch Screen Driver
- In Device Manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices.
- If HID-compliant touch screen appears faded, right-click > Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall it automatically.
Check Windows Updates & HP Drivers
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Visit HP Support, enter your model number, and download the latest Touch Screen Driver (if available).
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop and disconnect the power cord.
- Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the touch screen works.
Restore Windows (Last Resort)
If none of the above steps work:
- Go to Settings > Recovery and choose Reset this PC (Keep my files option).
- If the issue persists, consider rolling back to a previous Windows version.
If the touch screen still doesn’t work, the issue could be hardware-related.
Let me know what happens after trying these steps! 😊
