Spectre x360 - 15-ch004na

Hi all,

I have a very weird problem with my laptop. (Spectre x360 - 15-ch004na)

It's fairly simple. Whenever I try to press the buttons on my keyboard, the laptop immediately turns off. Pressing one button once doesn't do it. But if I try to type a few more, it just shuts down - it's also worth noting no text comes up on the screen when doing so. I'm forced to use my touchscreen/onscreen keyboard or a bluetooth keyboard. I haven't spilled anything on it and the laptop hasn't been subjected to any knocks.

things i have tried:

- a PC reset - not a factory reset - just the one that keeps your files but gets rid of programs and stuff.

- uninstalling keyboard drivers

- I'm currently typing this with a bluetooth keyboard and have noticed that when i press the caps lock on this keyboard that the light shows up on my laptop's caps lock button - so it's not completely dead.

Any ideas folks? Merry Christmas me!

Mat

@kovsky

Welcome to HP Forums, I see that your laptop shuts down when you type on the keyboard.

This looks like a hardware issue.

However, run a hardware test to check for hardware failure.

Refer this HP document for the steps to run the test:- Click here

If it shows any error, refer the private message.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
