@denojam,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Thank you for reaching out. If your HP Pavilion TP01-2000a won't boot after installing the Intel Arc B580 GPU and upgrading to a 500W PSU, here are a few possible causes and solutions to explore:

1. Check BIOS Compatibility:

  • Intel Arc GPUs require Resizable BAR (ReBAR) to be enabled for proper operation.

  • Your system's BIOS might not support ReBAR, or it may need a BIOS update.

  • Go to the HP Support page and check if a newer BIOS version is available. Install it if so.

2. Motherboard/BIOS Incompatibility with Intel Arc:

  • Many prebuilt OEM systems (especially older ones) do not support Intel Arc GPUs, even with ReBAR enabled.

  • Your Erica6 motherboard (commonly used in TP01-2000 series) has known limitations with modern GPUs.

3. Power Supply Connections:

  • Double-check that:

    • The 8-pin (or 6+2) PCIe power connector is securely attached to the Arc B580.

    • The CPU 4-pin connector is fully seated.

4. Try a CMOS Reset:

  • Power down and unplug the PC.

  • Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard for about 5 minutes.

  • Reinsert it and try booting again. This clears any corrupted BIOS settings that may have occurred during hardware change.

5. Try a Different GPU:

  • To confirm the system still works, reinstall your previous GPU or use integrated graphics (if supported).

  • If it boots fine without the Arc B580, it's almost certainly a compatibility issue with the GPU and motherboard.

Bottom Line:

Unfortunately, Intel Arc GPUs are very finnicky with motherboard and BIOS support, especially on OEM systems like the HP Pavilion series. If updating the BIOS and enabling ReBAR (if available) doesn’t help, the Arc B580 may not be compatible with your system. You might have better luck with an Nvidia RTX 3060/4060, which tend to work much better in prebuilt PCs.

Kind Regards,
