Those are pretty modest goals and very doable.

You will need the Service Manual:

Manual

Two customer-accessible/upgradeable memory module slots supporting up to 8 GB of RAM

Supports 7-mm/9.5-mm/12.7-mm, 2.5-in SATA hard drives with HP DriveGuard

See p. 52 for hard drive "how to" and p. 54 for RAM.

4 gig RAM module:

4-GB (PC3-10600, 1333-MHz, DDR3) 621569-001

Hard drive, 1 TB 7200 rpm:

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Mobile-Hard-Drive/dp/B01DOL05OC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478...

If you need help with software migration/reinstallation post back.

I spelled it all out. You can have 2 x 4 gig modules and install a 1 TB hdd. Instructions are in the Manual and I gave some purchase options. Where do you live (country)?
