thank you for your reply RE)51ST !

Have one question though: what does this mean : Two SODIMM memory module slots, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable ??

Can I still upgrade my Pavilion with two 8gb modules?

"Dual Channel Mode" is a feature that was created to reduce the potential performance bottleneck that exists between the CPU and the Memory Controller. It is enabled when a pair of same-size memory modules are installed into matching banks

non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable means:

HP would just like you to take it to a "Authorized Repair Outlet" to have upgrades performed.

Remove and replace of memory starts on page 35 of your manual.

Welcome to the forum @mickeybbb

Your manual says:  Supports up to 16-GB of system memory

But because of your CPU and memory type you could upgrade to 32-GB.

Your manual here:

Look at page 1-2

Remove and replace of memory starts on page 35.

Two slots means you can use one pair of ram, running then in dual channel mode which is faster. Both modules need to be similar, same speed, frequency and in most cases same brand. No user accessible may be that the SODIMMs are not simply accessible by simple removing the cover. The NB may need to be taken apart - more work to remove all screws, lids, keyboard, motherboard and so on... Never heard about soldered RAM modules that cannot be changed.
