Hi Jim,
I don't work for HP, but as far as I can see, their parts store don't stock this item.
However, the fan you've located on Ebay should be fine as long as the Part No. matches - the fan is the same for both Intel and AMD versions ( and regardless of whether the machine has Discrete or UMA graphics ).
Best regards,

Hi,
The Part No, for the fan is 639460-001 ( see Page 73 of the Maintenance & Service Guide ) - One reseller that stocks this is on the following link.

Hi DavidPK, Thanks for the quick answer, just a couple of things, all the part numbers seem to be listed as for dual core intels but mine is a quad core and i read somewhere that the fan and processor heat sink have to be removed in one lump, but do I now presume that once they are off and seperated then the new fan can then be grafted onto the original heatink? Also it seems to be a different part number for discrete or uma graphics memory, how do i tell which is in my machine? cheers

Hi,
You're welcome
The Specification Page for your notebook lists it as shipping with a Core i5-2450M which is a Dual Core processor with hyper-threading - ie 2 physical cores each of which can handle two threads per core. If this is not the processor you have, please let me know.
The graphics are Intel HD3000 which is UMA.
Yes, the heatsink and fan are 2 seperate parts - there should be 2 screws and 2 clips securing the fan to the heatsink - see the 2nd diagram on Page 78 of the Maintenance & Service Guide.

hi, DavidPK, Yes that is the processor, Comet sold me it as a quad-core and because the device manager shows 4 processors I believed it. Your link was spot on thank you, but they are out of stock at the moment and I found a fan on ebay at a third of the price with that part number but it is listed from them as being for the amd version and they suggest I send them pics of my fan for comparison which is daft as I would have to disassemble it then wait rather than have it ready to swap over and for reasons I can't go into the laptop is a lifeline for us at the minute, but then getting it repaired by hp will mean being without it as well, I suppose I shoud have asked what the turnaround is on that. It just seemed madness to pay well over a hundred pounds to replace a small fan. Why can'y hp just sell me a replacement fan? They must know from the serial number what part it is. Anyway; Thanks once again for all your input. cheers jim
