Hi,
I am wondering if I can add ram to my lap-top or if I am needing to just do an upgrade. It is very slow, I would love to upgrade to 16gb or even 8gb but not sure if this is possible. Info is below. Thank you for the help!
Model 14-fq0027ca
Processor AMD 3020e with Radeon Graphics 1.20 GHz
Installed RAM 4.00 GB (3.38 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hi @jimmy12341
You should indicate the model of the laptop, but seeing that it has that processor surely supports the 16 GB (2x8) of ram.

Hi, @resistencia & @jimmy12341
Below is the link to the parts list for the 2L7N1UA notebook product number.
M04583-601 | MOTHERBOARD UMA 3020e WIN |
Motherboards that come with the 3020e processor only have one memory slot.
Here's an eBay listing for that motherboard part number and it shows only one memory slot is available in the picture.

Thanks @Paul_Tikkanen
I had my doubts and I trusted the information from Crucial

You're very welcome, Resistencia.
I've come across this situation before.
When I am in doubt about a memory or SSD slot specification, I try to find a motherboard illustration on eBay to confirm.
Cheers,
Paul

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory in each slot is 8 GB.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
If you want to see if the notebook might support a single 16 GB memory chip in the single slot, run this command:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If the report returns 33,xxx,xxx then it may be possible to install a 16 GB memory chip in the slot, but I cannot 100% guarantee that it will work.
