Hi all. With this virus and now lock down, I'm having to work from home. So i broke out my laptop to find that the hard drive has stopped working. I've been through all the HP virtual assistant tips and finally she gave up and said sorry, I can't help you. When I did a I did not make a recovery disc before the hard drive stopped working. I even pulled the hard drive out and couldn't connect to it using another computer, so I'm going to replace it but don't have a recovery disc. I'm trying to see if there is a way to get a recovery download from HP or anywhere else. When I navigate to the webpage for my laptop, they don't list any recovery software on it. I don't care about recovering any personal data off the hard drive, I just want to replace the hard drive and get back to work. It's an HP 15-bs015dx laptop, with Windows 10. Thank you for any help.

Hi:
Using another working Windows PC, you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool.
The recovery drive will install W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Thank you for the help. I followed the instructions but when I try to boot from the usb disk I get the following error, “ [12:33:13.61] [startnet] Error, Get failure from Dynamic Recovery Tool”. Any ideas? Thank you.

You're very welcome.
Sorry the recovery drive didn't work.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to fix the error you are getting.
But you should be able to get your notebook back up and running by clean installing W10.
Make a bootable USB installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Since the recovery partition is not working, etc, when you get to the window where it asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.
Click Next, and W10 should install.
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
