Hello@skimter,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I have read your post and understand that you are having issues with the battery on your notebook. I will definitely help you.

I would like to share few steps which should ideally help us to either fix or to diagnose the hardware issue.

Firstly, try testing the battery and calibrating it.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03325217

Also, try reinstalling the Battery

  • Disconnect AC adapter
  • Shutdown Windows 8
  • Remove battery
  • Connect AC Adapter
  • Power on the laptop
  • Open the Control Panel and select Device Manager
  • Under the Batteries category, right-click all instances of Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall, even if you have only one.
  • Shutdown
  • Disconnect AC adapter
  • Insert battery
  • Connect AC adapter
  • Power on the laptop

Hope that answers your question. Let me know for more.
