Apart from this problem, I have had a loose hinge since last November. I was stupid enough not to care about it. But now i might think that these problems are connected. Can be that the HD is just "not attached"? (i am a biologist, so I have no idea what i'm saying). The PC is 3 years old, amazing, super fast, good memory and processor. help?

Hello @ClaudiaV
- Did you perform any changes recently on your PC (software or hardware) ?
- Did you ever had a working operating system on it ?
- Would you be able to take a picture of everything you see on your screen with regards to the error message "Boot device not found" ? Please, use your smartphone or camera, take a picture and attach it back here in your next reply.
In the mean time you might check this generic article for such issues >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443463
- Looking forward to your reply.

Hi!
No, I haven't done any change, and up until Dezember the computer was working fine. I had windows 7 on it. I took a picture of the screen (attached). I tried to go via F10, Boot options, enable legacy but it didn't star. I also opened the computer to check the HD and it was in great shape. I have, however, a loose hinge on the van side. Can this a possible cause for misconnection?

No, this is not the case here. This loose hinge seems not related.
I do not see any attachment, would you be able to check again ?

Thanks. I managed to download it - it is very helpful.
It looks like a Windows (operating system issue).
Just to be on the safe side, once you see this message, hit F2 button from the keyboard to perform hardware diagnostics.
Perform quick/fast check
If quick/fast tests are not available, just perform storage/hard disk test - quick test
Let me know the results

Make sure that your HDD (hard disk drive) is indeed well connected to the motherboard.
If you still fact the same issue even after that, it will be a confirmation that the HDD has died and will need replacement.

Let me know how it goes
