Hi
PLEASE POST ANY RESULTS.
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

Hi

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 7 & 10)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

So with LinuxMINT running, it may be possible to achieve the above, and/or somewhere to store the iso download of W10,

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10iso
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Expand/Extract/Burn the iso Image onto a DVD/USB as needed.
Microsoft’s Creator Tool will make the required DVD or USB.

Something here may suit...

https://mintguide.org/tools/317-make-a-bootable-flash-drive-from-an-iso-image-on-linux-mint.html

If it was a W7 problem the usual way is to extract expand the iso onto a small partition and the run setup exe from a bootable

device to get you started.

I use Gparted and Linux.

So please indicate your preference and what resources you have.

Hi

Since you are already upset....

"" burn or transfer to a Fat32 flash drive,""

"Limitations come with that age, however. Individual files on a FAT32 drive can’t be over 4 GB in size—that’s the maximum. A FAT32 partition must also be less than 8 TB, which admittedly is less of a limitation unless you’re using super-high-capacity drives."

So I am going to double check.... Downloaded.

4,056,256 KB which seems reasonable.

DVD created by the Download tool, which in Mint you would do yourself.

I:\>dir

11/05/2020 11:27 <DIR> boot
11/05/2020 11:27 <DIR> efi
01/06/2020 14:07 <DIR> sources
11/05/2020 11:27 <DIR> support
11/05/2020 11:24 128 autorun.inf
11/05/2020 11:24 413,738 bootmgr
11/05/2020 11:24 1,541,648 bootmgr.efi
11/05/2020 11:24 74,184 setup.exe

Nothing over 4 GB that I can see.

Total DVD disk space used 3.87 GB - 517 MB free.

I am sure that when new you should have made the Recovery Media then for this kind of situation.

I suggest you rethink your strategy.

you must have downloaded that iso a few years ago, the current download is 4.9 gb  the install.wim file is 4.5gb if you find another solution let me know... you're right i'm upset, I have spent thousands on HP products.. this laptop is 6months out of warranty, at least dell send you the discs free of charge, HP want to charge me... never again!

I downloaded it today.

Directory of S:\Downloads

29/05/2020 16:48 4,320,526,336 Win8.1_English_x64.iso
01/06/2020 14:11 4,153,606,144 Windows.iso

It is actually smaller than the W8 iso.

I made my own as you could do if you wanted to.

BYE and good luck with Dell.

well if you have it white not upload it for me to download or send me the link to where I can download a smaller iso?
