Permission to ask question here. I just bought my new HP OMEN 15-DC0012NE Gaming Laptop - Core i7 2.2GHz 16GB 1TB+256GB 4GB Win10 15.6inch FHD Black. I want to upgrade the HDD to SSD SATA before the first boot. I’m afraid I might lose the free softwares like mcafee or even the OS. Any advice?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Yes! you can upgrade the HDD to SSD drive, However, the SSD should have OS to load the windows.
There are two methods to install the Windows operating system on SSD.
Method 1: You can create a windows OS using from the computer. Click here to know more about "Creating a Microsoft recovery USB drive"
Method 2: You can contact our support and order recovery media.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
