I am at the screen asking for the old password in order to set a new password but we do not know the old password.

To reset the admin password on a Polycom VVX 450, you will need to initiate a factory reset. This involves using a specific combination of buttons during the startup process. The default admin password after a factory reset is "456."

 

Steps to Factory Reset and Recover Password:

  1. Power Cycle the Phone: Unplug the power to the Polycom VVX 450, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in.

 

  1. Initiate Reset Sequence: As the phone powers up, look for the message "Starting application, press Cancel to interrupt." Press and hold the 1, 3, and 5 keys on the dial pad simultaneously.

 

  1. Enter Password: You should see a prompt to enter the admin password to reset the settings.

 

  1. Enter MAC Address: Use the MAC address of the phone as the password. You can find the MAC address on the back of the phone.

 

  1. Reset Confirmation: The phone will then prompt you to confirm the reset. Select "OK" or "Yes" to proceed.

 

  1. Default Password: Once the phone reboots, the default admin password will be "456."
