The scroll function on the Synaptics trackpad on my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13 constantly stops working. I am constantly having to uninstall and reinstall the driver for it. Even when I do get it working I cannot find the setting to be able to reverse the scroll direction. I have read the previous threads about this and my computer does not have the same setup as what is described in these other instructions. My operating system is Windows 10 Pro. Can someone please tell me how to change this setting?
Here is a view of what I see when I go to my touchpad settings
When I click on "Additional settings" on the right-hand side and then go into the Synaptics HID TouchPad properties and settings, this is what I see and there is still nothing here about scroll direction.

Hi:
I don't have your model notebook, but I have a recent model HP notebook where the scrolling direction is the opposite of how I want it to be.
I couldn't find the settings to change that either by going to the Synaptics controls.
Here is where I found it...hopefully it will be the same for your notebook too.
Click on the Windows icon on the lower left corner of your taskbar>Settings>Devices>on the left side, click on touchpad>My notebook has a Scroll and Zoom setting, with the only option of dragging two fingers to scroll, and then there is a scrolling direction drop down box with two options, Down motion scrolls down, or Down motion scrolls up.
I wanted the down motion scrolls down. The default must be down motion scrolls up, because that is what the setting was on when I found it.

Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, once I get to the "Touchpad" step of what you mentioned, I don't have any settings that mention scrolling or zooming. Here is what I see: https://paste.pics/9N73B
I have tried clicking on "learn other gestures", "Additional settings", and "Fixing touchpad problems" off to the right as well and didn't find anything that would fix this issue.

Hi:
Sorry that your notebook doesn't have the same settings as mine.
There is one other place you can look that I know of.
I have an older HP notebook...again with scrolling issues...scrolling was disabled by default, and I had no idea how to enable it until I found the setting...
Go to the Windows Control panel, select Large Icons at the upper right corner of the window.
I had a Synaptics Luxpad control panel icon, and that is where I was able to find and enable the scrolling setting.
If you don't have a synaptics touchpad setting in the control panel, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

So I went into the control panel and didn't see an icon for Synaptics. Here's what I see
I tried going into the Mouse icon, in there I can get to Synaptics properties and settings but then there is still nothing there about scroll direction.
Is this what your Synaptics settings look like?
Thanks!

Hi:
Yes, my control panel settings look the same. I don't have a pen and touch category because that notebook doesn't have a touch screen.
But mine has an additional category...a Synaptics Lux pad icon, and that is what is missing from yours.
I take it that this is the touchpad driver you have installed? The latest one on the support page...

You can try manually installing the driver.
Go to the device manager, click on the Mice and other pointing devices category.
Click on the Synaptics touchpad device listed there.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup/sp100932.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
Then restart the PC.
You may want to create a system restore point first if you want to try this approach to updating the driver in case it makes a bad situation worse.
That way you can go back to the status before you installed the driver.
