I replaced the hard drive then proceeded to power up the Laptop,
a message said
Boot device not found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk
Hard disk (3FO)
F2 System Diagnostics

F2 not responding
So I started laptop along with tapping the (esc) Key attempting to open Start up menu,
startup menu opened with the following options
F1 - System Information - key responds, providing system information
F2 - System Diagnostics - key responds, providing Memory test & Hard Drive checks - I ran both and both passed
F9 - Boot Device Options (key non responsive)
F10 - Bios Setup (key non responsive)
F11 - System Recovery (key non responsive)
ENTER - Continue Startup

Did you ever have Windows 10 on it and activated? If so you can download a free Windows 10 install disk from Microsoft. Otherwise you will have to get recovery media from HP for Windows 8 or 8.1.
Gonna need the Model Number. Envy 4-121 is not complete. Something like Envy 4-1215dx would be the Model Number.
