HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef2000 (771X4AV)

Hello,

We have been facing an issue for many months regarding the cursor size. After every restart, the cursor appears extremely large, and we need to manually change the screen resolution to a lower setting and then revert it back to the previously set resolution in order to temporarily fix the problem. This issue has been ongoing for months, and I haven’t contacted you earlier because it’s a widespread problem affecting many people, and we’ve been discussing it on the Microsoft community forums. Unfortunately, despite waiting for a long time, the issue has not been resolved. Today, Intel responded to one of the users, stating that this problem should be resolved by HP.

I kindly request an immediate solution from your side to this ongoing problem that has lasted for more than six months. If you are unable to resolve the issue, I request that you take back your laptop and refund us the money, as the device is still under warranty! I had avoided purchasing HP products for 14 years due to a bad experience back in 2010, and unfortunately, I am seeing history repeat itself.

The device warranty has one month and nine days remaining, and this is an official complaint. Either solve the problem or kindly inform me how to send the device back to you.

Thank you.

I have the same issue, its been reported widely by many users since the Windows 24H2 update, HP - you havent modified the intel drivers correctly it seems, it would be a good idea to take this seriously.  The display scaling seems not to be properly set at startup from a cold boot when faststart is enabled.  This can be resolved by manually setting the display scaling, or doing this programatically - this lies with you HP to resolve

#Thanks

@Mohammad-ZA, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Mouse Cursor Size Issue

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since you've already found a temporary workaround by adjusting the screen resolution, let’s try a few steps that might provide a more permanent fix:

Adjust Display Scaling Settings

Open Settings > System > Display

Under Scale & Layout, try different scaling options to see if one resolves the issue after a restart.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Please update your BIOS and graphics drivers using the HP Support Assistant.

If you're not using HP Support Assistant yet, you can download it here.

Manually Install Latest Graphics Drivers

You can also try installing the latest Intel graphics drivers directly from the Intel website.

Rollback Windows Update (If the issue started after a specific update)

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery

If available, try rolling back to a previous Windows version and check if the issue persists.

If none of these steps work, we’d like to escalate this further. Could you please send me a Private Message with your active case ID if you've already raised this with HP Support? This will help us track the progress and find a resolution faster.

I appreciate your patience, and I want to make sure we get this resolved for you. Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

The issue is the display scaling does not stick to the desired 200% after a cold boot.  Changing the value to another then back fixes it, but only until the next cold boot. The problem only exists in windows 24h2. Rolling back does not work as windows forces and update to 24h2 again.  It's obviously a HP version of the intel driver which isn't fully working with 24h2

Thanks

Also as noted previously, you cannot install non HP versions of the intel drivers as windows update again will override this and download and replace with the OEM Specific versions.  In the short time between installing the intel drivers and the OEM drivers replacing them, the symptom still persists.  As indicated in other threads around this issue, all affected users have fully up to date systems and drivers, including BIOS, updates having been done using the support assistant

This is well known issue since 5-6 months, but HP does not act correctly and does not interest on this issue correctly. I am personaly also effected with my laptop HP Spectre X360. HP has to contact with INTEL and Microsoft ASAP to solve the issue, because for the time being the only solution is to disable fast-startup in Windows or to use third party apps such as fix dpi.

Did you check one by one the web links posted to you from Mohammad-ZA ?

Check also this documentary above, you will see that HP Spectre and HP Omnibook users are mostly effected for this issue. You will also see the last recommendation is to disable fast-startup.

Please also watch the video in the link below.

Fix mouse pointer size keeps changing in Windows 11. You might experience your mouse pointer larger after a restart or next start of your computer. This problem occurs due to a bug. However, there is a workaround for this is issue. Follow the steps in this video.
