Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)

When i turn on my laptop, it gives me the option to select my keyboard layout. I select my laugnage, then it only allows me to turn off my laptop or troubleshoot. When i click troubleshoot>advance option>system restore i get a message saying “ to use system restore i much specify which windows installation to restore.”
“Restart computer, select an operating system and select system restore”. However when i restart my computer it brings me back to either restart or troubleshoot. It would allow me to do anything. I need help please.

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.

On the Troubleshoot screen can you select Recovery Manager as shown here?

No. When i click trouble shoot i get a blue screen with a error message that says “can’t open file x:\sources\recovery\Tools\HP\ Rita-tool\”
Then when i click ok, the recovery manager screen pops up with only mantenance, support, and precautions(which can’t be selected).

I would like to just reset my whole laptop but it’s not allowing me to.

To help more we really need the Product or Model number of your laptop to look up details. You listed XP as your operating system but I don't think that is correct?
