I was getting a'' runtime error" message trying to use recovery disk.I was advised to format entire "c" drive. that solved the error problem. I then used recovery disc and when that was done I got the "no boot device" as advised here crl alt del works

Never got the answer plus the guy we hired to fix the pc ran off with it. Cops got involved, he had a record ugh.

Thank you for your post.  Sometimes it is the easiest things to try first rather than making the fix so difficult.  My HP dv6-2155dx is back to new after installing a new hard drive, running the recovery disks, an following your instructions.
