My HP laptop shows missing System Board information in BIOS. The Serial Number, Product Number, and other identifiers are blank. The Manufacturing Programming Mode (MPM) is already locked, so I am unable to reprogram the information using HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU).

Because the MPM is locked, I cannot enter the system information myself. I need assistance with reprogramming the System Board data (Serial Number / Product Number / SKU) or guidance on the correct HP service procedure to restore the product information.

Please advise the proper steps or MPM tool to fix the missing BIOS information.

Hello Steffen,

Thank you for your guidance. I appreciate the suggestion to contact HP Support.

I can confirm that I have already performed the following troubleshooting steps, which align with the common fixes for this issue:

  1. I have been running the BiosConfigUtility64.exe command from an elevated (Run as Administrator) Command Prompt.

Despite these steps, the command continues to fail with reason="Access denied" and BCU return value real="13"or real="6", confirming the Manufacturing Programming Mode (MPM) is currently hard-locked by the firmware (likely after the initial DMI write).

As this lock cannot be overridden by the BCU tool itself, I request the necessary Service Master Key (SMC.bin) or service instructions to temporarily unlock the DMI section for the required reprogramming.
