Hi. I noticed that the power head on my Spectre looks similar to the ElitePad g2 I came across this:
Hi Vaso,
Yes, I know. This is no fix 😉
Im sure: When you uninstall the WWAN Modul (do not make a restart) the sleep button works again!! 😉 Please try it.
I have this problem on all our Tablets.
The problem is the Intel driver from the HP site.
Please give us a feedback. I will do some test from my site also afterwards.
regards
Peter
The sleep button dysfunction was caused by a WWAN module. Is there a similar module on the Sceptre?

@CorsaTurboC, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
I checked few records and found a service advisory related to the issue you mentioned.
To resolve this issue, perform the following the steps:
Uninstall the Intel graphics driver, v22.20.16.4771 driver manually.
Download and install the following SoftPaq to update the Intel graphics driver to v21.20.16.4639.
Link to update the graphics driver.
Let me know how it goes!
Take Care! 🙂

I finally had success in restoring control of my power button. I performed several steps and I am not certain which one did the trick.
I created a restore USB thumbdrive but waited a while to see if it was completed. When I checked, I realized that the Spectre was powered off and not responding to power button after hundreds of attempts.
I opened up the unit following the instructions found in one of your replies and disconnected the battery. I then re-connected it.
I was able to get into BIOS. I re-set any security related or administrator functions I could. I set the boot function wait time to 10 seconds to see if I could use pre-boot key sequences.
I re-booted and ran a recovery as I was able to select f10 while powering up.
All good! I can power on and off from the switch and power up with one push of the power button.
