Window 10 Creator incompatible with AMD A10-8700P processor - any resolution?

Trying to update to Windows 10 Creator - error message says processor AMD Carizzo A10-8700p is incompatible.  Three organizations are passing on the problem - HP, Microsoft and AMD.  Any resolutions yet?  Should I try to get a copy of Windows 8.1 and go backwards?  Recovery is not an easy task.

Only a clean install works when you have TPM disabled and hidden from BIOS settings.

Decrypt and disable Bitlocker if you have any encrypted content that uses Bitlocker.  

You can choose not to format your PC's system partition during the install if you wish to keep your documents. You can also migarte them over to the new WIndows 10 CU installation. However, you will have to reinstall all programs and drviers.

You will get most drivers via Windows Update. Get the ones for AMD from support.amd.com.

I read your response and several of your blogs on the same subject.  Being an unlearned novice, I would like to recap your solution:

Back up

Change BIOS to disable and hide TP

    any other changes to BIOS?

Clean install Windows 10 CU

  Cumulative Update Ver 1607 8/31/16?  With an ISO file?

Select not to format the system partition and save the files - but do need to migrate them from Users folder under Windows.old directory

Reinstall all software and drivers

   specifically manufacturers' drivers for all hardware?  Or just AMD?

This will get the laptop back to the last Windows 10 commercial release

   How about future commercial releases?

   If this problem is not fixed, how can I prevent future Windows 10 releases from automatic update?

Are there any plans to fix the problem besides this method?  By HP?  Microsoft?  AMD?

My laptop has 3 months warranty remaining - is that a help with HP?

You are very familiar with this problem and generous to share your solution.  Thank you very much!  You at least have a solution which is better than either HP, Microsoft or AMD.  I will "give it a go" and let you know if it works for me. That will take some time.

I am reading more and more about this problem - it appears to be a widespread problem with HP laptops that will make a much bigger splash when Windows 10 Creator goes commercial.  My laptop was listed by Microsoft as one sucessfully tested to run Windows 10.

If there's not a quick solution by one of the big three (HP, MS, AMD) soon, then I should save my allowance and buy a new laptop with Intel and get this one listed on EBay.

Back up - Yes, totally. Especially the Users folder in Drive C:. Data from the other drives too if you plan to delete all paritions while making the clean install of Windows 10 CU.

For convenience, put USB before Internal HDD in Boot Priority section. Disable UEFI altogether if you think it does not serve you any purpose. 
 
Clean install Windows 10 CU
  Cumulative Update Ver 1607 8/31/16?  With an ISO file? - You can get the ISO file on Windows 10 Creators Update (v1703), use RUFUS to put the contents of the ISO on an USB drive and boot it. Make sure you select the right partitioning scheme on RUFUS. Alternatively, you can also use the Media Creation Tool used by Microsoft. 1607 is the version number of the older Anniversary Update.

Now, if you have disabled UEFI and you have a hard drive that follows the GPT partitioning scheme, you MAY HAVE TO format the entire drive during the install, and recreat all the partitions. It is easy to do though.

   specifically manufacturers' drivers for all hardware?  Or just AMD? - Let Windows Update run till it completes. It will install the drivers of HP, Realtek, AMD devices on your PC. Now, the AMD drivers from Windows Update or HP are generally outdated and are not exactly CU compatible. So go to support.amd.com and download both the Radeon Settings Software (WHQL version, currently 17.4.3) and Chipset drivers.

   How about future commercial releases? - Microsoft has stated that there are a lot of devices that are not yet compatible with WIndows 10 CU for some reasons. Third party data shows only 10% have upgraded to CU.

The error that you are experiencing was from a WIndows 10 Insider build (build 15058, it prevented any upgrades after build 15002). The issue was not fixed in the RTM version either. The PCs which did not get the Creator's Update will get it via Windows Update when they are compatible. However, trying to upgrade using v1703 ISOs at any point of time on a device that was initially incompatible may fail. 

   If this problem is not fixed, how can I prevent future Windows 10 releases from automatic update?  - Your PC will not automatically update if it is not compatible. Windows rolls out upgrades too via WIndows Updates. Manual upgrades using Upgrade Assistant or Media Creation tool are for non-beginners.
 
Are there any plans to fix the problem besides this method?  By HP?  Microsoft?  AMD? - All the companies are aware of this problem. AMD can do nothing now. Carrizo was specifically designed for Windows 10 and ran all the previous versions fine. HP may issue a BIOS update in the future to fix this, just as they did for Windows 10 v1607. Microsoft knows about this incompatibility and refuses to share further details. But apparently they are working on a fix. It wont be unwise to expect a fix in the next RTM version (v1709) coming in September 2017.
 
My laptop has 3 months warranty remaining - is that a help with HP? - They will fix damaged hardware for free. Do not expect anything more. At best, they will roll back your Windows 10 to an outdated version with outdated drivers. They will treat you like s**t once the warranty expires.

Computer Science student here. A lot of these issues are not detected in the generic testing methods used in the industry. Also, I closely follow Microsoft and AMD. I'm also on the Windows Insider Program.

There is no point in buying a new laptop because you never know when Windows will cause issue with it. Carrizo is not even 2 years old. Some older Intel processors have also experienced similar issues. Even the newest AMD 7th Generation processors, including the 6th gen (what you have), have been blocked due to a "faulty detection mechanism" by Microsoft.

Final update on HP incompatible processor:

*  The fix did not work

* No resolution from HP, Microsoft or AMD

* Windows Insider now threatens with computer lock if updates are not run.

* Windows now erattically reboots which prevents using LapLink to transfer data

I'm currently copying essential files onto thumb drives in between reboots.  The la[ptop still has 4 months warranty but is essentially useless.  After I finish offloading files, will wipe the disk if I can and junk the computer.

I will NEVER again participate in Windows testing, buy an HP product or anything made by AMD!  Spread the word!!!

after new BIOS update (F.45 Rev.A, 17 May 2017) from HP, SUCCESSFUL update (not clean install) to Microsoft windows Creators Update (without any change to BIOS settings) !!!

I did dig my laptop out of the trash and found the BIOS update (recently posted by HP, not yet on HP's Support 

Assistant).  IT WORKED !!!!!!  I'm still tuning it up and very doubtful of future updates, but it works for now.

I really appreciate your help and thanks to HP for finally posting a fix.

Hello HP Carrizo users,

is anyone of you able to install the lates AMD Radeon software on his/her amd based laptop?

I'm havin an issue installing it under Win 10 pro 1703.

I already started a conversation on AMD community page: LINK

Some users can install it if they enable legacy boot support in the BIOS, this is why I think it might be a BIOS issue.

Who has similar problems?
