Hi  @Jazz108,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern that even after already trying multiple driver installations and spending time troubleshooting on your own your still facing the camer issue . I appreciate the detailed information you've provided, and I'll do my best to help.

Could you kindly confirm a few details:

  • Which version of Windows are you using (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?
  • When you open Device Manager, do you see the camera listed under Cameras, Imaging Devices, or Other Devices?
  • Are there any error messages, warning icons, or unknown devices showing in Device Manager?
  • Does the camera appear in the HP Camera app, Windows Camera app, or video conferencing applications such as Teams or Zoom?

In the meantime, Kindly try the following steps and confirm :

  1. Check Camera Privacy Settings
    • Go to Settings - Privacy & Security - Camera.
    • Ensure Camera access is enabled.
    • Verify that apps are allowed to access the camera.
  2. Run Windows Troubleshooter
    • Go to Settings - System - Troubleshoot - Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Camera troubleshooter if available.
  3. Show Hidden Devices
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Click View - Show hidden devices.
    • Check whether the camera appears and, if so, uninstall it and restart the notebook.
  4. HP Hardware Diagnostics
    • Press Esc repeatedly during startup and then select F2 System Diagnostics.
    • Run the component tests if camera diagnostics are available.

If possible, kindly share a screenshot of Device Manager (especially the Cameras, Imaging Devices, and Other Devices sections). This will help us determine whether the issue is driver-related, a disabled device, or a hardware detection problem.

I hope this helps.

Hello Deep World,

Thanks for the reply. I will answer your questions as I think thereis a solution out there.

By the way, I believe that the driver for the camera is bad or corrupted or gone.

I have Windows 11

When I open Device Mgr there is no camera under any of the 3 places you mentioned.

Yes there is an error message when I try to open camera in Zoom or teams  when I open the camera app in settings, the error message says: we can't find your camera, error message 0xA00F4244 no camereas are attached.

I checked camera privacy settings and all are on.

No camera trouble shooters are available.

Nothing shows in any hidden devices or was I able to get a camera back up when running all sorts of diagnostics or downloads.

I would love to find a way to install a camera driver, as this is missing.

You are the only HP person who helped. When I called the number I am directed to web site, then directed to help in the community.

Hi @Jazz108

Thanks for your response.  I'm glad you shared these details, and I'll do my best to help further.

Based on the information you've provided, the fact that:

  • You are using Windows 11.
  • The camera does not appear anywhere in Device Manager, including hidden devices.
  • You receive the error 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached) in the Windows Camera app, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Camera privacy settings are already enabled.
  • Diagnostics and driver installation attempts have not restored the camera.

These symptoms suggest that Windows is not detecting the camera hardware at all. While a missing or corrupted driver can sometimes cause this behavior, the camera would typically still appear as an unknown device or under hidden devices in Device Manager. Since it is completely absent, it could be hardware detection issue.

To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.
