Good to know, but did other folks also disable those features, where it worked and then didn't after awhile ?

I did read posts about folks updating drivers and they thought it was fixed.

It is such a dramatic difference disabling the multifinger functions, that I can't imagine that this is

not going to stay fixed.

I searched all 16 pages of this thread and none have talked about disabling the multi finger or double tap functions.

I would agree that those Windows 8 like features don't work. I only cared for this

"control zone" to work like a mouse pad for Windows 7, wherein the cursor is not jumping all over the place and doing weird things. For me; that is all I want or need. For those of you who need for this control zone to work as advertised,

then I agree, you still have a big problem. And actually my world is not perfectly fixed either because I still have the issue

where the cursor jumps when I double click. But my work around for that is to hold the cursor stead on the image by

keeping my right thumb on the touchpad as I'm double clicking with my left thumb. That assures that the pointer doesn't move. And actually it only moves sometimes, but that is how I have started doing it, again to my satisfaction in the imperfect world of technology.

I think my issue is resolved. But believe me; I'll update this and the other thread if I'm wrong.

You seem to be talking about a different issue than what most of us are talking about.

You were having problems with "Sensitivity" of the touchpad, which can be controlled in the touchpad settings. Most touchpads have a setting called "PalmCheck" or something similar.

The problem the rest of us are experiencing happens when we use the touchpad to control the mouse. The touchpad becomes very glitchy, not within our control  and eventually the mouse starts moving across the screen without our hands even touching the touchpad.

We have tried, disabling all the features you mentioned above, that does not solve this problem.

I've had this same problem with the control zone going crazy.

I fix this by going to control zone, then mouse, then HP Control Zone Setting's tab, and hit "reset devices" at the bottom of the page.  This corrects the erratic behavior of the control panel for a day or so but not permanently.  I have to do this reset almost daily. Fortunately my HP is a touch screen so  I can go to control panel and do this reset with finger touch on the screen otherwise the erratic mouse would make this simple process nearly impossible.

With 16 pages of this complaint and no help from HP for a permanent fix, I don't think I'll be buying another HP. Quite a shame since this is my family's 5th HP PC!

I agree that HP doesn't seem to care about this problem. I gave my Envy a 1 star rating in the review though due to the Control Zone. Maybe they won't pay attention until their reputation is completely destroyed and they stop making any money. This is my third HP computer and I bought this one partially due to the quality of my first two. And like you, I probably won't buy HP again because they seem not to care. I mean, at least they should be all over this saying they're working on it or that they will retrofit a replacement trackpad into the units or something.

Hey everyone,

I'm not new to the forum, but so far have only been reading over the posts on how to fix the trackpad problem. I own a HP Envy m6 n012dx, I started to experience problems with the trackpad after about a month. My trackpad pointer would move erratically on screen, and often highlight and select items (as if I was right clicking) by itself. I tried every suggestion on this forum, and went as far as a full restore but the problem came back. I finally called HP and after telling the rep that I had tried every suggestion he was telling me to do, he set me up to send in the laptop for repair. While in repair, actually just one day after they received it, I got an email stating that the problem was fixed. The repair receipt I got says they replaced the top cover - touchpad part number 761210-001. My laptop is now working great, I have yet to experience the issue. I will post again if the problem comes back, but I thought that posting the actual part number of the part replaced could greatly benefit people having this issue.

Hey Eddie,

I'm guessing your post is going to make others drool when they see it.

So, are you talking about the thing you slide your fingers on to make the mouse arrow move

that says "Control Zone" on it? I just want to be sure I know exactly what you mean.
I had no luck googling for the part number.

Thanks for updating.

How many days have u had it since repair? - If you really have read through all these threads you would realize that each and every person who has thought their touchpad was working after repair, the problem returned days to weeks later. In some cases (About a month)
Please test it out lots and reply back if it ever starts having problems again.

Hi Jeff,

Yes I'm talking about the touchpad that says control zone on it. I also tried searching the part number on the HP part finder but had no luck either. I thought it might be a new part, but I don't really know. I use my laptop heavily for school, so if the problem comes back i will update my post.
