Hi SirMox! I wasn't using the little icon in the corner to tell but my mouse was indeed activating, moving and clicking all over the place on the screen.  In fact at one point before I was able to figure out how to start/stop the glitch I had to disable it and only use the touchscreen or the laptop was unusable. I would recommend you do a tech support chat with HP, have the tech remote access your computer and have them watch. Explain to them you're not touching the touchpad as it moves all over. They'll have you send it in and replace the touchpad. At least that was the process with my model.

If you pay 15.90 for shipping you can actually likely have it back by the end of the week if you ship it out on a monday.

Thanks for your reply Grahf...

Well then I guess I have to bring my laptop for warranty. I think this is really a hardware problem because when Im pressing the middle part of the touchpad the mouse is starting to glitch but when you press again the mouse will return (at some time) to normal.

I'll update you guys when I return my unit to HP. For now, I will be temporarily using an external mouse and disable the features of the touchpad coz' I'm using this laptop for prgramming purposes.

Tnx!

Hi guys,

If some of you are still not aware there is a new HP Envy Control Zone issue thread. I encourage you to subscribe to that thread and start posting any comments over there. This thread was tagged by some HP modorator to have been "Solved" .. when it actually has not been solved.

I will now be posting in the other HP Evny Control Zone thread so that I dont have to post things in multiple places.

You can find my latest post there: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-ENVY-CONTROL-ZONE-HELP/m-p/4741010#M156235

I'm moving over to the other thread but yes SirMox it's definitely pressure on the touchpad that started/stopped the wild mouse movements and clicking on my notebook. I think that's the telling sign that it is indeed hardware related.

I have the same problem here in HOng Kong. I returned the first ENVY the second day I got it and they gave me this replacement but the trackpad of this one still sucks the same. PLease let me know if any solutoins found.

I'm afraid that the real solution is to return the unit as I'm going to do today.

I just received my return label from them yesterday.

I struggled with whether or not I should live with these issues and I decided it had to be

better than this.

A word of caution. HP is not refunding my entire purchase price. They are deducting two months

worth of use from the purchase price even though a lot of that was spent returning the unit for

service and trying to get answers to this problem from day one.

So, if you just bought and you're thinking you might return it, you should probably do it

immediately so they don't scam you like they are me. I looked into having my credit card company

go after them, and they said they would but they needed for me to get a local computer repair

company to sign a voucher stating that the trackpad is funky. I just thought it too much trouble

to deal with, otherwise I'd fight HP on this. I told the case representative that for them to gouge

me on the way out the door is a bad idea. Now, instead of just returning the unit and wishing they

had done some more UAT before releasing it, I now don't like the company brand. I was a loyal

HP buyer and now I don't like them and will likely not buy from them again.

I don't know about you, but I am tired of being bullied by large corporations, so I keep a list

of ones I won't ever do business with. HP is not officially on that list, but I will avoid buying from them

in the future. This whole thing is being handled very poorly.

Hi... i had no choice but to return my hp envy laptop.. they found out that it is a hardware issue.. Just got my laptop back yesterday. They replaced the touchpad, so far no issues...

How long have you had it back and using it without issue?

Aside from the erratic cursor movement, do you also have the

problem with double clicking, wherein the cursor moves after

the first click and thus the double-click fails?

No HP does not have a fix for this. All we can do is take our computers back and get one without the "control zone" touchpad. The control zone touchpad is defective and can't be fixed.
