While attempting to install my HP 9025 all in one printer to  one of my laptops,, I received an error message to close the program.. The details stated that the hpgid29v4PE.exe is missing. I used the HP 123 software for the install.  The network printer is recognized by Windows8.1, but it will only print in grayscale, and there are limited preference functions.. And it won't print in color. I uninstalled the program/printer several times and got the same message.

How do I obtain the missing file,, or how can I install the printer (on a network) without it?

Welcome to the HP Community --

I no longer have an OfficeJet Pro 9025 installed -- I do still have the Web Pack and I checked the contents.

The good news is that the hpgid29v4PE.exe file is embedded in the installation package.

The odd news is that I'm not sure why you are seeing the error.

Perhaps delete the existing pieces of the installation attempt, restart the computer, and start fresh.

There is no support for your older Windows 8.1x OS -- you can check whether the system behavior appears to be "OK" -- that is, running without obvious file system errors -- there is naught in the way of Windows or Driver updates.

-- Important --

None of the following was written for -- or tested on -- Windows 8.x

The information is provided as "well intended" and "FYI"

At the very least,

Try / Consider

  • Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features,
  • Restart the printer and the computer and log in,
  • Download / Save / Install the Webpack (included below in section Printer Software - Full Driver
  • Restart the computer and log in

Thank you Dragon-Fur, for the timely and detailed response to my issue. Hopefully, some portion of your suggestions will create a resolution. I'll begin with the uninstall, with a reinstall of your provided link. The Win 8.1 OS is on one of my favorite laptops that I use for my Admin/Moderator duties on a popular woodworking forum.  I've previously been using the printer on a network only, with just the basic features.  I just replaced all of my other 8.1 systems with new HP equipment, that have Win 10 & 11 systems. I have yet to install to same 9025 printer on each (hopefully with no issues).

Be Well and thanks again!
