Hey Mathew, I realy wouldn't know where to begin either other than go to your model's drivers dowload page and try reinstalling the most recent wifi driver from there. If that doesn't help try the " troubleshoot network" (right click wifi icon lower right corner) also maybe a good idea to post a new thread for help, I guess that it would be in the hardware section of these forums where someone may have good help for you? It's been a few weeks since I've checked in around here.
As I recall now, think I had a minor glitch too after finally getting mine back running again... think it was the bluetooth driver i had to reinstall but got it going again from the downloads page.
hope this helps and wish you success brother!

Edit: you should post in the wireless and networking section for the pros to see and hopefully help get you on the right track.
Also now that I think about it my glitch was the broadcom driver, almost positive

SOLUTION that works for an HP ENVY tablet computer:
I had this same error, after using the Recovery Media diskettes that I created from the Recovery Manager on my HP Envy tablet computer. I tried for several hours using various methods given on these forums (like resetting the BIOS to factory setting) to no avail... I ended up purchasing the recovery media usb stick, thinking that maybe my disks were just not working. I probably ended up spending the money for nothing.
What actually worked was the change to the System Date to any date before the Born On Date in the BIOS, that was already mentioned in previous posts. I also changed the boot sequence in the System Configuration to boot off the USB, and also changed the USB 3.0 Configuration to Auto. Then I saved these settings and exited from the BIOS to start the recovery process again.
FINALLY, after countless hours and several tries later, I was able to have a successful recovery.

Hey gracetosee, I'm not sure if you may have read my post from yesterday in this recovery section or not, you can pull up my profile to see it I think... if not Hp has sent me a new updated version of the usb recovery, it's a 2nd edition they call it which is supposed to be the fix for our recoverys not completing. I didn't request it or expect it but was a nice surprise! Possibly it's to those of us who've ordered the recovery set for this issue these past few months that they are shipping to?

For those with this problem on a Windows 7 HP Pavilion DV6 7000 like me, with the Windows 8 Pro upgrade offer back in 2012, I've solved the issue. BTW simple reseting the BIOS didn't work for me. Here's what I did instead:
downloaded Windows 8.1 REGULAR 64bit ISO from MIcrosoft
installed onto the computer
put in a generic product key (will not be used to activate so turn off the internet!!!!!!) (It will be replaced later with your genuine key)
when everything is done installing, use the Windows 8 Pro upgrade key given to you during the offer, select "Get more features with a new edition of windows" and enter the Windows 8 Pro upgrade key.
Since the key is linked to your OEM machine, it will work even if it was activated before on the same machine.
remove the generic product key (instructions from Reddit) :
"Once it's installed: Right click on the start button, click "Command Prompt (Administrator)". Type "slmgr /upk" to get rid of the generic key (it'll pop up with a success box) and then type "slui 3" to bring up a dialog to enter any Windows 8 or 8.1 key that matches up with the version of Windows you installed. OEM keys, upgrade keys, for both 8.0 and 8.1 should all work. "
Tah Da! Now you have fully activated genuine Windows 8.1 Pro recovered free from bloatware! (The windows 8 Pro key automatically recognizes the Windows 8.1 install and converts to windows 8.1 Pro).

Hi HeisRisen,
I believe that since my recovery USB was ordered so recently, it was probably the same one you received. I definitely think the issue will still occur unless you remember to change the Born On Date in the BIOS to complete the process... But thank you for the information!

Hi Gracetosee, you could be right, I druther it be later... much later or never having to find out 😉 Atleast we know the work around now so not so bad as the first go. My envy has been running like a champ the past few months but if it ever needs a recovery again I'll resurrect this thread to post the outcome. Take care brother!

I spent a couple days and several recovery efforts. My daughter's laptop is a HY Envy 15t Quad. What worked (thanks to the people in this forum):
1. Turn on the computer, while tapping F10
2. Change the date to sometime before the battery date (when the computer was born)
3. Go to the System configuration tab and choose boot options
4. Enable legacy systems, and make sure that the safe boot option is disabled
5. Wait a minute for the screen to appear that has a code if you want the changes to the Bios to take effect.
6. Enter the code and press enter.
7. Turn your computer off
8. Put in the recovery USB and turn your computer on
9. Go through system recovery process and it finally worked.
THANK YOU!!!
