Hi, I can't get HPSA (the latest 9.50.34 as of now) to install on my EliteBook 840 G5 (Windows 11 25H2), The installer shows some incompatibility message before installation completes. I have already tried clean boot, older HPSA versions, but nothing worked. What should I do next? Is there anything else I should try? Would a clean Windows 11 reinstall help? Should I try HP Image Assistant instead? Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks.

You need not install the HP Support Assistant -- 

AND

HPIA is not supported on your system and 25H2

 

 

There are only a limited number of Windows 11 drivers dated 2025 -- everything else is much older.

Change Operating System / version to Windows // Windows 11

Open all / Expand

 

HPSA is likely not supported in your current version of Windows -

Again, you don't need it.

The system is no longer receiving regular updates.

 

Update the system as can be done using Windows Updates.

 

HP Image Assistant is not supported on this system and the version of Windows you are running.

 

HP Image Assistant can be downloaded at the HP Manageability website.

Thank you for the clarification, my understanding is that My EliteBook 840 G5 is no longer officially supported by HP (at least on 25H2), and therefore HP Support Assistant is no longer supported for this system. Is that correct? I previously tried installing the same HPSA version on Windows 10 22H2 as well, but the installer still reports the same incompatibility problem. Windows Update is working as expected, but HP specific drivers for this device can only be retrieved from HP. Now with both HPSA and HPIA unsupported, what do you recommend as the best way to manage driver updates automatically for this system?

HPSA is a consumer grade application -- Nice but not the only update deployment tool for a business class system.

 

That the HPSA does not any longer install -- and apparently does not support -- your aging system is not as significant as is the fact that the HP Image Assistant does not support the system at your current version of Windows.   

 

It's normal -- HPIA is a commercial product meant to support business class systems.  When the HPIA no longer supports a system / OS version, then HPSA would not be expected to support that system either.

 

There is no reason to downgrade to an unsupported version of Windows -- your path is forward.

 

There are not additional automatic driver update methods from HP --

It's normal -- at some point, an older system is no longer provided new HP drivers.

 

Should there be a security need for a driver, that might be offered -- again, though -- your Windows version is now updated beyond what the HP drivers support.  

 

Considering there have been but five "somewhat recent" updates and those were back in 2025, I suggest you open the Software and Driver's web page on occasion and check manually for any updates.  "On occasion" might mean you recheck once a month, once every three months, or however often you feel the need.
