I wish to thank all of you GREAT people who have reached a helping  hand to me for the computer's failure to shut down by Windows 10 software or the Windows 8.1 software. The fixes work for a while, then it's back to the Windows shutting down and leaving the computer to be manually shut down!

It may be in the Registry. It worked fine for a couple of years with Windows 8.1, that is it shut down properly. Your fixes worked for a while then for some reason stopped working.

I just went back to each "fix" and THEY won't work now!

It's either a registry problem or a hardware failure on this HP Envy 15-k118nr.

I had been buying Dell computers for a long time but was impress with the "Auto" updates and support for our old HP printer, I thought I would buy this for my Wife. I didn't choose this model but was sold it by an online sales lady. Little did I know that it was an antique and a soon to be discontinued product. I should have done my homework on HP and bought a New Model!

I would say that most people with this model have the same problem. There must be a permanent fix for it unless the hardware it's self is the problem. It could be a motherboard problem since there are no updates, but what do I know!

From now on I will do some research before buying any brand!

 Many Thanks to ALL,
