I just bought a new HP ProBook SSD based laptop.

There is a system device in Device Manager - HP Mobile Protection Sensor which installs a low level disk driver hpdskflt.sys for the SSD. This is useless since the SSD needs no protection.

There is no relevant installed program. I uninstalled the device and driver in Device Manager but it just reinstalls on reboot. How can I remove or disable this device?

Are you sure ? You may not need the 3D sensor which is applicable for normal mechanical HDD's, but you definitely need some sorts of protection for SSD.

This protection sensor is for sensing G forces and parking the heads of a hard disk. It is useless for a solid state SSD drive.

HP Support were useless. I worked out a simple fix to remove hpdskflt associated with every drive as noted below. I left the HP Mobile Protection Sensor in Device Manger alone since it just reinstalls if you uninstall it. There should be an option to disable the device but HP do not allow this option. I also didn't fiddle with the other settings for hpdskflt.sys since the driver is associated with the HP Mobile Protection Sensor which cannot be uninstalled.

How to remove hpdskflt associated with all drives.
Delete the lower filter for hpdskflt at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Reboot.

PS - do backup before you try this
