Screenshot 2026-07-24 023005.pngHello HP Support Team,
I am facing an issue with my laptop (HP EliteBook 8570w) running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The screen brightness shortcut keys (Fn + F9 and Fn + F10) are completely unresponsive, and I cannot adjust the monitor brightness.
Upon checking the Device Manager, I noticed the following issues:
  1. Under Monitors, the display is listed as a standard "Generic PnP Monitor".
  2. Under Other devices, there are multiple missing drivers with yellow exclamation marks, including:
    • Base System Device

    • PCI Serial Port
    • PCI Simple Communications Controller
    • Unknown device
I suspect the issue is related to missing HP Hotkey Support or Chipset drivers compatible with Windows 10 for this specific model, which prevents the system from recognizing the brightness hotkeys.
Could you please provide the direct official download links for the correct drivers (especially the Hotkey Support and Chipset drivers) to resolve this issue?
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi:

You need these drivers:

PCI Serial Port/PCI Simple Comms controller:

Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver

sp63661.exe

Base System Device:

JMicron Media Card Reader Driver

sp63637.exe

You probably won't be able to install the driver for the Unknown device which is the HP 3D Driveguard device.

If you have installed a solid-state drive, that device is not necessary anyway.

You can see if the info in this discussion to install the 3D driveguard driver still works:

Solved: HP 8570w Accelerometer driver not working - HP Support Community - 7138204

HP removed the W10 Hotkey support driver many years ago because it reported a false virus message on some notebooks.

However, I saved the file and uploaded it to my Skydrive folder before HP removed the file.

I have shared the link to that folder below.

Microsoft OneDrive

Download, unzip and run sp71790.zip

Notebook PC's don't have specific display panel drivers.

All notebook displays are labeled as Generic PnP Monitors.
