I don't dispute that HP has been absolutely TERRIBLE at driver support, but this is really what it would take...

Possibly, trouble is we don't know that for sure.

Apparently, the BIOS upgrade system is set up to only accept newer BIOS versions (because I've tried everything, including loading the ROM onto a USB to flash manually via the UEFI recovery program) so all they would need to do is flash a version F.20 or whatever and revert the borked changes (at least until newer drivers are released...I actually don't mind having 1GB of dedicated video memory for games..I just wish they would let you choose the size in the BIOS setting programs like on my old Samsung laptop with an AMD CPU).

I just got a survey thing from HP about my support call. I let them have it, Poor atitude, lack of driver, the Bios issue. Gave them a total failure in my answers. I don't imagine for a second it will accomplish anything....

Did you ever try to download the F08 executable and run it?

sounds like the old bios was corrupt

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04126730

Theres a bios zero writer also.

and just a point, the latest bios for F05 is F11

just because you see the highest number doesn’t necessarily mean you pick that one for you mother board, some of those are for machines that came out last week, not last year or more.

the latest bios isn’t universal

you said you used F19

Example F19 is for a i9 board. F18 for thread ripper etc..

I VERIFIED IT

you bios choices are:

shipped F03

first update F08

final update F17

amything other than those will not work.

look for your product first then go to the support and download section

What do you mean by "old BIOS" was corrupt... F19? Didn't seem corrupt but rather illprepared or incompatible with the driver set.

Zero writer... ? any details?

Seems most users, or many, I guess, were flagged by HP Support Assistant which collects hardware info and matches that with BIOSes and drivers. Happened to me. I did not pick the F19 BIOS, HP did. And HP killed that BIOS subsequently, only after it wrecked several machines.

Your conclusions may not be entirely correct.

Mine: F13 shipped, upped to F16 then to F19.

Every BIOS has previous versions section showing BIOS tree.

What's unclear to me: differences between AMD BIOS designations. What if you didn't know your current BIOS ver. Which is the right one? No info which fits what mobo/laptop model.

Same here this 100 percent HP's fault all we can is hope they get off their butt and issue a fixed bIos. Other than that file a lawsuit. ha ha. Mine just randomly crashes or just freezes.   I personally would rejoice if HP and AMD both declared bankruptcy......

You guys are used to smart Phone updates

Bios is contingent on the board

the latest update isn’t necessary the latest update

fir your motherboard/computer

ie if I put F19 in my bios it would crash it but I know that

Looks like you didn't read my response, the OP and the thread.

I literally copied and pasted what you wrote in the product section into ho website and did a search

the picture you see is what cane up along with the link...

You guys are used to smart Phone updates

Bios is contingent on the board

the latest  Bios update isn’t necessarily the correct  update For your motherboard/computer

ie if I put F19 in my bios it would crash it but I know that

bios and drivers are unique to each board. granted some can cross many boards but not all.

i don’t you don’t want to hear this but HPs website is amazing compared to most. Yes I was surprised. The put dell to shame.

So does that mean you put the wrong computer information in the product category? Because everything you said doesn’t match at all.

I actually typed my system model number in the software and drivers section and HP showed me that the F19 was the CORRECT BIOS. Not all of us here are newbies you know... and I know how to force install drivers, no matter what ones I use still crashes  and freezes randomly.....This not all HPs fault had AMD not passed the driver buck maybe some of these problems would not of happened...
