Did u try the usb roll back method?

HP Recommended

At every attempt with the USB (WIN+B) rollback method the flash utility says "Cannot read signature file" so I cannot rollback. Is there any way to hack that (stupid) UEFI flash tool of HP?

Unfortunately, there is NO WAY to roll back to a previous BIOS vesion. There is a hotkey that the HP tech support told me about (Windows key + shift + B I believe) that starts the BIOS rollback process, but it doesn't work. Only way is to flash to a newer BIOS version.

Based on your experience, I will stick to the F.19 BIOS and newer AMD drivers (until official ones are released).

Well amd 1912 does not even have the vega 8 listed in the inf file. I had to use the 1911. I used DDU to clean but before I even had a chance to install.the 655 driver auto installed even after I had removed the driver software and disabled windoiws 10 update service......Did HP put original display drivers in the F20 bio somehow? Time to put this POS back in the den again and wait for drivers that are never coming.........

DDU is NOT a must when reinstalling drivers, uninstall usually suffices, or using the AMD cleanup utility. When you uninstall the drivers and reboot you once get Basic VGA driver, or other times Windows will initiate reinstallation of an older driver.

I used the driver from HP, I believe 24.20 (Dec.2018) and it works fine. Most Nov, Dec or Jan drivers are essentially the same, differences are minimal, if any, for our purposes.

DDU is often overused and should be used only if after the installation of a new driver you get corruption and it doesn't work properly, possibly due to conflicting file versions. But that is rare.

Uninstall the old driver, VGA driver will kick in and install itself and then use the "have disk" option. That should suffice. Worked for me.

Nothing in BIOS limits your driver selection beside "normal" incompatibility by design (AMD determines that) = not every new driver version has to be perfect for your hardware.

All BIOS versions for the AMI version have been removed from the HP website. I hope they are working on this mess with system firmware.

I did the dumb thing to update from F.19 to F.20, giving confidence in HP, knowing after two minutes that the AGESA and VRAM settings came back at the older versions, so I had to revert to the older video drivers. I hate this so much since with the new AGESA, GOP and VRAM all was working perfectly with newer drivers.

I hope that some day they will finally update both video drivers and onboard firmware, but I am just going crazy knowing that I already had them and I stupidly reverted to the older version.

That's too bad. We've all learned a hard lesson from HP that their BIOSes and laptop support in general cannot be trusted.

F10 BIOS (an upgrade?! to F20) is an example of that, besides a very appalling issue of F19.

No way to undo the BIOS, that is sad and inexplicable, or maybe ridiculous is a better word.

F19 turned out better suited for new drivers and features, only after a hard work by many... except HP.

HP caused a turmoil and did nothing to explain what's not working right. Unfortunately this laptop is a DIY project by design, LOL, so exercise caution when even touching BIOS. Now you know... Too bad it means nothing to HP.

You're right. All BIOSes (you say AMI) are goooone. HP killed them all.

Proof positive they see what mess they have caused. AGAIN.

Well, there may be some hope in that, or am I dreaming...? Unlikely, but still possible they will do the right thing and beside new BIOSes they post better documentation so ppl know better what is what.

BIOS downgrade is a missing but highly needed option.

I can see all the previous AMI versions on there..

Not for this one... HP ENVY x360 - 15-bq108ca, no AMI BIOSes.
