Hi Aleunge

Many thanks for the reply, & info.

For the ProBook 4720s I also went to Microsoft's Catalog, but had to get an older driver than what's listed above. The one listed above is for newer hardware than is in the ProBook 4720s. In the Catalog, I did a search on the hardware ID of "hpq0004" and it returned two options, one for Win7 & one for WinXP. I chose the Win7 option which was version 4.2.2.1 5/12/2011. This is slightly newer than the one HP has on their web site, but it was enough to get it to work.

When I tried to update the driver by telling Device Manager to search Microsoft or by running Windows Update and telling it to check for updates, Windows wouldn't find the newer driver that Microsoft has. I had to manually get it from the Catalog.

This solution's worked for my EliteBook 8770w. Thank you very much!!!

7.0.4.1 works well with current W10:

Otherwise, haven't seen the versions you mentioned.

there are 7.0.7.1, 7.0.8.1 and latest 7.0.9.1, I've the 7.1 & 8.1 version but couldn't find 9.1 so asked here. And these versions can't be found in MUC website you mentioned, 4.1 is the last version available there.

Hi Shantanu-003,

You are asking for a working solution but I am just wondering - do you have SSD or HDD drive in your machine?

If SSD, then Mobile Data Protection Sensor can be uninstalled, it won't be of much use as its main purpose is to protect more impact-sensitive HDD storage devices.

HP Recommended

SSD, but the matter is, if I uninstall that, it continues to show/throw an error in Device Manager, moreover, over the period of the time, Windows Update always download & install the old version of this driver for this, so that's why I keep it and keep it updated with the latest version reported by the driver checker app Dumo. Already installed v7.0.8.1 dated 28th June 2019.
