Only jusy getting round to downloading Win10 Home, still not sure if this is the correct place to download so as yet I have not downloaded.   I have taken this long time to sort out all my files and make sure they are backed up, I just feel I will lose everything as this all started with a big Win10 upgrade when the computer crashed.   If you have time to help me through the steps I would be very grateful.

I have included a screenshot of where I think I should be downloading Win 10 Home.

Thank you

Win 10 has updated and it is still Win 10 Pro, I was never asked any questions ie Product Key nor was there a choice of Home or Pro.  Not sure what to do now.

Any help is always appreciated.

Hi:

Is the copy now activated, or are you still getting the message that it needs to be activated?

HP Recommended

Hi and thank you for posting.

I haven't activated because it said I had Win 10 Pro.  I have not got the shadow activate message (bottom right but don't think I had that all the time) but do have this

and this is what it thinks I have

Hi:

Run that Showkey Plus utility I posted the other day, and copy and paste the report to your reply.

Don't post the actual product key characters, just the description of W10 it reports.

Hi and thank you

Is this what you mean?

I have just had a popup window telling me to activate.

Thank you

Yes.

If that is all the report is showing, your notebook does not have the required Windows product key in the BIOS that you need to activate Windows.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with that.

If your PC originally came with W10 from HP, they must have installed the wrong motherboard...one that was meant for a FreeDOS notebook model, which has no product key, as the owner is supposed to supply their own operating system.

The only suggestion I can offer is to contact HP in the UK, explain the situation to them, and perhaps they will send you the product key you need to activate Windows.
