I got a new victus 15. It works OK.
Unfortunetly the fans are making irritating high pitch noise even when idle.
I have some time to return it to the store and I thought of trying this option to switch off constant fans in BIOS. After some research I believe that this is ok for for everyday work, but would it be dangerous (laptop more prone to thermal events) during gaming? Would such hardware conditions mess with OMEN Gaming Hub fan settings?

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The high-pitched fan noise on your Victus 15 fa0999nw can indeed be frustrating.
Adjusting the fan settings in the BIOS to disable constant fan operation might help reduce noise during everyday tasks, but it’s important to weigh the potential risks, especially during gaming.
Everyday Use vs. Gaming
- Everyday Work: Disabling constant fans in the BIOS is generally safe for light tasks like browsing or document editing. The system will still ramp up the fans when temperatures rise, but it may take longer to cool down.
- Gaming: Gaming generates significant heat due to the high workload on the CPU and GPU. Disabling constant fans could lead to higher temperatures, increasing the risk of thermal throttling or hardware damage over time. Gaming laptops are designed to prioritize cooling, so fan noise is often a trade-off for performance and longevity.
Impact on OMEN Gaming Hub
The OMEN Gaming Hub software allows you to adjust performance modes (e.g., Quiet, Balanced, Turbo). If you disable constant fans in the BIOS, it might override or conflict with the fan settings in the OMEN Gaming Hub, potentially limiting its ability to manage cooling effectively during gaming sessions.
Recommendations
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Check for BIOS updates on the HP Support website as they may include improvements to fan control and thermal management.
Use OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Set the laptop to "Quiet Mode" for everyday tasks and switch to "Balanced" or "Turbo Mode" during gaming. This can help balance noise and cooling.
Cooling Pad:
- Consider using a cooling pad to improve airflow and reduce the workload on the internal fans.
Test Before Returning:
- Experiment with the BIOS fan settings and OMEN Gaming Hub modes to see if you can find a balance that works for you. If the noise remains unbearable or the laptop overheats during gaming, returning it might be the best option.
