Hi, on my brand new Elitebook 865 G9 i try to install bios update. I've downloaded sp156138  to update to

 

TITLE: HP BIOS and System Firmware (U82)
VERSION: 01.11.00

 

current bios is 01.01.12

 

After install this sp156138  in windows 11 the updater application say "the firmware update is prepared successfully ,Please restart to complete"

 

But after restart ..nothing happens. Windows starting again..but No Bios update...

 

Any ideas?

I managed to update the BIOS in the end after going via multiple older revisions and arriving on the latest one. However, the reason I was doing the update (to fix the persistent crashing on wake from sleep) is still present so I think this needs service.

This is infuriating. I have a similar but older EliteBook 840 G9 that has been having stability issues, I wanted to update the BIOS on it as it's running an older version from 2022 but like you, it installs but will not initiaise the update process no matter how many reboots are done. It sometimes hangs on startup with the power LED pulsing (which is usually what happens before an update) but eventually goes into Windows. I have tried updating from local media in the BIOS setup but it can't find the files on the USB drive (they are definitely there), I have tried doing a remote network update but get a "Failure during data transfer (maximum downloaded content size exceeded)", I don't know what to do other than call HP for warranty repair for the stability/reboot problems.

Wow, this was the solution.. update incremently with older versions (i did 3er steps in bios version) and this works..

I'm only one step below the latest BIOS update. I don't think I could do the same three step process you are outlining. Can you be more specific in the process followed? Were you in a similar situation or were you many updates behind? Thanks!

sorry to hear that.. i was at 01.01.xx and then i did 01.03.xx, 01.06.xx, 01.09.xx and then finally 01.11.xx. this works for me
