Hi Paul, I have a similar need but I'm in desperate need for the same zip file but for version 17.9.6.1019 I've been hunting around now for the past 5 days. That version is like the golden chalice! So if you or anyone has it I'll be very grateful! Steve

You're very welcome, Steve:

I was wondering about that file missing the VMD drivers because I did a word search in all of the driver folders for VMD and came up empty handed.

I have zipped up and attached the oldest version of the driver I could find, below:

18.0.0.1135

It indicates it supports the following devices/hardware ID's:

DEVICES SUPPORTED:
Intel 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
Intel 300 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
Intel 400 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
Intel 500 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
Intel 6th Generation Core Processor Family Platform I/O SATA AHCI Controller
Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management Extension
Intel RST VMD Controller 201D (x299)
Intel RST VMD Controller 28C0
Intel RST VMD Controller 9A0B (TGL)
Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB

The attached file actually has a VMD driver folder which I did not see in other versions of the IRST driver.

I'm hoping this is the missing link.

Best regards,

Paul

Hi, Steve:

I have zipped up and attached the file you requested, below.

There are 3 folders in this file.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thank you so much for sending these through, I really appreciate it, especially so quickly!

The files you sent match the ones I've ready tried, which unfortunately don't include the VMD folder. It seems I need the VMD specific drivers to get the internal SSD recognised during setup.

If you know where I might find these VDM Drivers or have any suggestions, I'd be grateful for your insight.

Thanks Again

Steve

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Thanks again for the reply Paul!

it’s actually a HP All-in-One 24-df1007na and the version of the Driver pack is 17.9.6.1019 I’ve prised my way inside using Ventoy and got into Command Prompt and extracted  a driver query, so I’m sure the version is that. I had full visibility of all preloaded drivers etc. my problem is the SSD is playing hide and seek!
Why HP and Intel keep this driver pack secret, other than leverage to get money from us, is beyond me!

Hi, Steve:

This driver I give to everyone with 11th > 13th gen PC's should be working that I attached below.

The 17.9.6.1019 version is ancient history.

If you can find the product number of your 24-df1007na PC (it should be in the BIOS) you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

That should include the storage controller drivers in the image.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

I cannot find your PC's product number and I have searched high and low.

It doesn't show up when I do a search on the HP partsurfer site either.

It gives me several  24-df1007xx product numbers sold in other countries but not the one sold in the UK.

Hi Paul,

Appreciate your time and support so far.

Quick backstory:

This HP All-in-One 24-df1007na (Product No: 381A5EA#ABU) was working fine until a recovery attempt went sideways I accidentally wiped the recovery partition, so the HP Cloud Tool no longer recognises the system for reinstallation.

Since then, I’ve:

• Booted using Ventoy, accessed Command Prompt, and ran driverquery

• Confirmed it was running Intel RST VMD 17.9.6.1019

• Tried newer versions (18.x, 19.x) including the one you kindly sent but they’re flagged as incompatible or unsigned in Windows Setup

We’ve also booted in using Hiren’s and Gandalf PE tools, which both work fine to access the system but everything still points back to needing the 17.x VMD driver specifically to get the SSD recognised by Windows Setup.

If you’ve got access to that version or know a workaround we’ve missed, it would be a massive help.

It’s really frustrating because I found a back door and can get inside. I can see inside the beast and have run tests and everything is fine except the SSD hiding in plain sight!

Thanks again,

Steve

You're very welcome, Steve:

For whatever reason, your 381A5EA#ABU PC is not supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

I gave you the RST driver version you asked for and  the version shows up in the driver setup information file.

Hi Paul,

Just wanted to say again how much I appreciate your time and help  you’ve been incredibly responsive, and it’s clear you know your stuff.

After digging further (and I mean deep), I think I’ve uncovered the missing piece of the puzzle. The 17.9.6.1019 driver set you kindly shared definitely matches what my system originally used but it turns out Intel (or possibly HP?) have quietly stopped including the VMD drivers (like iaStorVD.inf and .sys) in that package. No VMD folder, no RAID, just AHCI, now masquerading as “f6flpy -x64”.

My HP All-in-One shipped with Intel Optane and a VMD-based controller, so unless those specific drivers are present, the SSD stays completely hidden  even in the Windows installer. I can boot into tools like Hiren’s or Gandalf and access everything else, but the SSD just doesn’t show unless VMD is specifically catered for.

You’ve actually helped confirm that because what you shared matches exactly what I’ve seen from Station Drivers, Dell, and Intel directly. Same structure, same contents, same missing bits. It’s like everyone’s distributing a trimmed version now.

The search continues but believe me, Paul, if I do manage to track down a full legacy copy with the VMD drivers, I’ll zip it up and send it your way for your reference. You’ve helped so many people already least I can do is give you another arrow for your quiver.

Thanks again for everything, seriously.

Best regards,

Steve
