Pavilion x360 convertible

The volume button at the side of the laptop seems stuck (it doesn't look stuck, in that the 'up' and 'down' buttons look equally un-pressed-down, but it's acting as if it is). The volume keeps decreasing down to zero, and the only way to solve it is to hold on the 'up' volume control on the side of the laptop, apart from when that then increases the volume. Moreover, the volume adjuster is displayed on screen, frozen and mute. Only when I keep pressing the side volume button, it disappears from the screen. When I remove the pressure,it reappears. it is getting very irritating and making the laptop difficult to use. How can I disable the volume buttons on the side of the laptop, as they are useless anyway owing to the f7 and f8 keys?
