Hello all:
I want to re-deal the oldest problem: VIRUS. Due to tiredness, I hung it up years years ago.
It seems I'd better do it again now.
Could you tell me which free antivirus software is OK? --Zhao

Hi,
To perform an initial cleanup of PC these are my recomendation (see how the situation is and then you can decide to perform a more intense cleaning)
Download Malwarebytes 3.0 free version and run > update definitions > perform scan > reboot > run Malwarebytes and goto Quarantene and delete all files > uninstall Malwarebytes
https://www.malwarebytes.com/products/
Download Hitmanpro (trial version) and run, update and perform scan > delete all threats found > reboot > uninstall Hitmanpro
https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/downloads.aspx
Download Adwarecleaner from Malwarebytes and perform scan and delete all threats found
https://www.malwarebytes.com/products/
To finish off perform free virus scan from Kaspersky:
https://www.kaspersky.com/free-virus-scan
Now see if PC is clean and functioning correctly, if not we can perform some more in depth scans. Install antivirus such as Avast.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi,
Due to large number of people having issues with Antivirus programs incompatible with windows 10. The best so far that you could download is McAfee LiveSafe. Weve been recieving multiple complaints since Microsoft released Windows 10. People are getting issues after installing the antivirus of thier choice and removing McAfee.
Common things the people encounters are no boot issues, black screen, sluggish computers, and internet disconnection issues.
Microsoft however on the other hand announces that Red Stone 2 update will hit by April. Lets hope itll fix a lot of bugs from windows 10

See: http://www.top10bestantivirus.com/best-free-antivirus
The domain-name: TOP 10 BEST ANTI VIRUS dot COM says it all.
It's a very competitive business out there -- all the companies that market anti-virus software have updated their software for compatibility with Windows 7 (and 8 and 10). To NOT do so would be a "kiss of death" for a company.
Or, see: https://www.av-test.org/en/
for an "independent" Anti-Virus testing company, for their rankings.

Hello Mdkcassen:
Thank you for giving exact and easy way about the antivirus.
I tried the 1st one of the ten you gave: TotalAV.
By the end of installation, it asked about the Credit-Card. Is it free truly?

I am not sure that it is free. When I tried to install it, I got the following "register your free copy now" window:
I did not "register", and I did not click "Activate My Free Copy", since I already have an anti-virus program installed.

Hi,
I do not believe that because a site is called bestfreeantivirus or similar it will offer the best advice on the antivirus to install. The antivirus you are trying to install is for sure not considered one of the best free antivirus by large independent organizations which test antiviruses. I would suggest to look at the results of these organizations and decide what is the best choice for you. You can also consult international PC magazines web sites for further guidance and not trust onlòy the name of a specific website.

Hope it helps,

A good source for listing reputable anti-virus companies is: www.VirusTotal.com
Simply submit *ANY* file ('.txt' or '.exe' or '.doc'), and your submitted file will be virus-scanned by more than FIFTY anti-virus products, and a list of results will be displayed.
Pick from the list of those 50+ products, and do your own research to see if they have a "free for personal usage" version.
